Planting Acorns At The Frey Ranch

Dec. 19, 2017 -- On Sunday, about 40 volunteers gathered at the Frey Vineyard to help plant acorns in the burned area. Under the auspices of the Oak Granary in Potter Valley and the Hopland Research and Extension Center, they cleared brush and built cages for the future saplings. The acorns they  used were gathered by volunteers, deposited into an acorn bank, and kept in cold storage until planting day.

The Fort Bragg City Council is poised to reduce setback and parking requirements to incentivize a mixed income housing development that would include 30 senior housing units and 14 market rate units. Meanwhile, Fort Bragg’s extreme weather homeless shelter, which was almost canceled this winter, is moving forward. Dan Young reports.

Remembering History At The Emerald Cup

Dec 14, 2017 -- This year's Emerald Cup may have been historic for being the last of the 215 era Cups, but we found plenty of people who are under the impression that history has been happening for a long time. We'll hear from an oral historian, a curator of a hemp museum, and a woman who remembers passing around petitions for Prop 215, or the Compassionate Use Act of 1996.

The City of Fort Bragg is developing policies for up to four cannabis retail businesses. Retail cannabis would be banned in the city's Central Business District, and onsite ingestion of cannabis products would be banned at all retail sites. Tune in to hear Dan Young's report on the recent city council meeting on this issue.
