Oct 14, 2017 -- The south end of Potter Valley was placed under a mandatory evacuation order on Wednesday, October 11, at 7:30pm. On Thursday, KZYX talked with evacuees outside the road block on Potter Valley Road, just off of Highway 20. The next day at 6pm, evacuees from the southern part of the valley were allowed to return home. That does not include the three men in this piece, who live on Van Arsdale in the northern valley, but it did include the woman.
The woman's story is hard to hear, so I thought I'd include an update. On Saturday morning, I went by her home, to see if she'd made it back into the valley. She said she had stayed with a friend in Willits, and she was pleased that her story had been aired.
