More than half of the inmates in jails across the nation have a mental health condition, 64 percent according to the Federal Bureau of Prison statistics. Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman has brought a lot of attention to the problem here and the deterioration of the exsisting facility.
The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors received a proposal at their Tuesday, February 7 meeting, from a team aiming to secure state funding for a county jail expansion to include a mental healthcare space.
