Rising waters of the Navarro River, fed by days of rain, spilled onto California Route 128 on Monday, forcing the road's closure between Route 1 on the Mendocino coast and Flynn Creek Road at Navarro, the first closing of the rainy season, Caltrans said.
"Route 128 is closed in Mendocino County near Route 1 due to flooding of the Navarro River," Caltrans reported in social media. "It is unknown at this time when the highway will reopen."
Alternate routes to the Mendocino coast are available via Flynn Creek Road or Philo-Greenwood Road. Motorists are advised to use caution.
