5th Annual Mendocino Pride Celebration Draws Local And Bay Area Residents And Speakers

The parade started down the middle of state street, escorted by motorcyclists flying large rainbow flags and controlling traffic. There was no permit to parade down the center of the street. Soon the police showed up and respectfully asked the celebrants to use the sidewalk instead. The marchers made their way back to the sidewalk and walked two more blocks to Alex Thomas Plaza in the center of downtown. The festivities included live music, performances, a drag show, and booths from vendors and organizations like Planned Parenthood and PFLAG, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. There were also speeches and performances from both locals and Bay Area residents, sharing their stories. The event was hosted by the Mendocino Pride Alliance and sponsored by the Ukiah Brewing Company.
