A Mendocino County Superior Court jury on Friday, May 11, 2018 found 63 year-old Steven Patrick Ryan of Ukiah, guilty of voluntary manslaughter for the late 2016 killing of the young man, 20-year old De'Shaun Patrick Davis.


According to a press release issued by Mike Geniella of the District Attorney's Office, the jury also found true the special allegation the defendant personally used a firearm to cause the unlawful death of Davis.

Remains Found Near Hart Family Crash Site

On Wednesday evening, a Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputy was dispatched to the area of North Highway 1 and Hardy Creek in Westport.

Upon arrival the Deputy learned a local resident had found a pair of jean pants with a shoe entangled inside one of the pant legs on the ocean beach near the mouth of Hardy Creek.  This area is approximately 1 mile north of the Hart Family crash site.

The jeans were a girl's size 10 regular and the shoe appeared to be a 3.5 US big kid size or 5.5 women's US size.

This contractor has been working with the county and fire survivors to repair over-excavated properties. He talks about how much it costs and what it takes to make fire survivors' properties ready for rebuild.

Seckora encourages property owners who think they have a problem with their property to call the county's hotline and schedule an assessment. He advises people to make sure any damage is documented, and to address any problems as soon as possible.
