Laytonville man shot during robbery

Further details have been released in Tuesday's robbery in Laytonville, which left a man with a gunshot wound.

In a release from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, authorities say the 63-year-old male victim was shot around 6 a.m in his residence in the 100 block of Mill Road.

He told deputies three to five unknown African-American men smashed in his glass door armed with handguns. They allegedly held the victim at gunpoint and demanded money and marijuana.

The suspects searched the house and at some point pistol whipped the victim and shot him in the arm. They disabled his vehicle and left in an unknown direction with $7,000 and multiple firearms.

The suspects were described as slim, black men between the ages of 18 and 30. The victim's injuries were not life threatening.

Anybody with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the sheriff's office by calling 707-463-4086 or the tip line at 707-234-2100.
