Board of Supervisors, April 10, Mendo Recycle Plan

April 20, 2018 — Robert Carlson, the new general manager of the Mendocino Solid Waste Management Authority, gave a presentation on the organization’s three year plan, as well as recent changes. Carlson, who has the been the GM since September, told the board that the outfit now goes by the name Mendo Recycle, rather than the acronym MSWA, and that he has made some new hires. He also laid out plans for cleaning up illegal dump sites, and addressed the improper disposal of drugs and needles.

Carlson hopes to have the refurbished website fully developed by the end of the month. The Mendo Recycle Facebook page says members of the organization will be at the Noyo Food Forest for Earth Day this Saturday, teaching kids how worms recycle food scraps.

Check out the story below to hear the highlights of the presentation. We also interviewed Carlson about Mendocino County’s place in the changing global recycling economy, and what’s being done about it.
