Sheri is the current news director at KZYX. Sheri has an impressive C.V. and comes to KZYX from Utah where she was an award winning journalist and reporter.

Sheri proved her talents to the KZYX listeners during the important extensive coverage of the fires in Lake county. Her reporting on local elections and the growing concern over changes in the local cannabis industry has won her praises from all over Northern California. 

Calfire reported this morning the Redwood Fire is 32,100 acres and 5% contained. Challenges facing firefighters include steep inaccessible terrain and northwest winds. Thousands of people have been evacuated throughout the incident.

 

Shelters in Mendocino County are at half capacity and can accept more people.  They are located at: 

Ukiah High School, Willits High School, and the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians Gymnasium. 

 

All Mendocino County Offices Are Open, according to County CEO Carmel Angelo. At a press conference in Ukiah Thursday, October 12, Angelo also said that due to the air quality in the region due to the fires, the County has 500 air pollution masks to distribute to the public starting at 3:30 today at Frank Zeek elementary school in Ukiah (1060 N Bush St; Ukiah. Another mask distrbution will take place in Willits Friday morning at 9:30 at the Willits library.

A Redwood Complex Fire press conference facilitated by Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 8;00 a.m. in front of the Mendocino County Administrative Building, located at 501 Low Gap Road in Ukiah. 

 

Representatives from city, county and state agencies will be presenting updates and information at the media event.
