Sheri is the current news director at KZYX. Sheri has an impressive C.V. and comes to KZYX from Utah where she was an award winning journalist and reporter.

Sheri proved her talents to the KZYX listeners during the important extensive coverage of the fires in Lake county. Her reporting on local elections and the growing concern over changes in the local cannabis industry has won her praises from all over Northern California.

At a recent meeting on renter's rights in Santa Rosa, renters were able to ask questions such as "do I owe rent for the time I was evacuated, does my landlord have to pay for my losses?" Kendall Jarvis of Sonoma County Legal Aid answered these questions and more.  Steve Mencher of KRCB reported on the event and shared their story with us at Kzyx News.  It could help answer some questions for renters in Mendocino County who were impacted by the October wildfires. 

The opening of the commercial Dungeness crab season in Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties is being delayed, according to the Director of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Charlton Bonham. The reason, poor crab meat quality test results, which show the crab are not filled out enough prior to harvest. The delay is expected to last a minimum of 15 days until December 16, 2017.

The Espinoza family in Redwood Valley lost two homes to the Redwood Valley fire in October, 2017.  Now seven of them are staying in a one bedroom apartment and even though they are grateful for the place to stay, it can get stressful.  April Dembosky reports.  

Property owners who lost homes or had other structures destroyed by the October firestorms can have their properties cleaned of any hazardous waste and debris at no out-of-pocket cost through a program being offered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. However, they must act quickly. The state of California’s Office of Emergency Services has set the deadline to sign up for the program by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2017.
