Sheri is the current news director at KZYX. Sheri has an impressive C.V. and comes to KZYX from Utah where she was an award winning journalist and reporter.

Sheri proved her talents to the KZYX listeners during the important extensive coverage of the fires in Lake county. Her reporting on local elections and the growing concern over changes in the local cannabis industry has won her praises from all over Northern California. 

In attempt to focus more resources on recovery, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office sent out a new release today asking fire survivors living in the current mandatory evacuation areas of Redwood Valley, Potter Valley, and Willits to the call the EOC - County's Emergency Operations Center - and provide the following information: Name, Address, Telephone number, are all occupants of the residence safe and accounted for, and name of any person who did not leave/escape the property during the fire.

Firefighters from across the United States are battling the Mendocino/Lake Complex Fire. There have been 8 confirmed fatalities and approximately 8000 people have evacuated throughout the incident. More than 250 residences have been destroyed.  

 

According to Calfire, damage inspection teams have completed inspections for the Sulphur Incident and are continuing to survey for damaged and destroyed structures throughout the Redwood Fire. 

 

Beware Of Phone Scam

There is a phone scam taking place in Mendocino County amidst the devastation of the Redwood Fire.  

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office announced Friday, October 13, 2017 that residents have been receiving phone calls from people claiming to provide financial aid to fire victims.

The caller asks for personal information such as the resident's social security number.
