Climate change. Floods and droughts. Plummeting biodiversity. Malnutrition and obesity. Rising rates of cancer and other diseases. This program continues our series Changing Climate - Changing World, and takes a look at how our changing climate is changing the world we live in,  locally and globally. Part 3 continues to look at how climate change and a growing scarcity of fossil fuels will impact our food system and features two examples of adaption to these coming changes.

I talk with Eric Toensmeier, permaculture pioneer and author of Paradise Lot the story of two plant geeks who created an edible garden oasis on a tenth of an acre in the city of Holyoke, Massachusetts and found their sweethearts along the way.

This series is part of my contribution to education about climate change. The idea for this series on Wildoak Living was born during an interview I did with Dr. Peter Joseph in early 2012. He inspired me to check out the The Climate Reality Project, founded and chaired by former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore. In August of 2012, I was trained by Al Gore and The Climate Reality Project to educate about climate change and became one of the more than 4000 volunteer climate leaders. You can listen to two interviews I did with Dr. Peter Joseph here and here.

You can listen to the other programs in this Climate Change Series here:

Part 1: Learning From Those Who Came Before Us - with Sherrie Smith-Ferri and Kate Marionchild

Part 2: Rebuilding the Foodshed - with Phillip Ackerman-Leist

Part 4: Carbon Fees and Dividends - with Dr. Peter Joseph

Part 6: Cows Save The Planet - with Judith Schwartz
