Tonight on Maps & Legends (7 pm)--Rockabilly Special
It's raucous, it's raw, it's real—it's rockabilly. An irresistible combination of bluegrass, country, and boogie woogie with some western swing thrown in for good measure, the rockabilly sound propelled early rock and roll, from Jerry Lee Lewis to Buddy Holly and on. After a short tour of its country roots, the show will get sizzling with classic music from the early years joining in with newcomers Lydia Loveless, Jake Bugg and Imelda May. We'll also hear from the punkabilly movement, which went back to rock and roll's early sound to make a whole lot of glorious noise, with groups like The Cramps and Reverend Horton Heat. Join your host Roberta Werdinger from 7 to 9 pm for Maps & Legends.
