Mary Aigner's Departure

Mary Aigner, Program Director for KZYX&Z, recently announced that she has decided it is time, after 22 years, to hand over the reins. She has some interesting opportunities that she wishes to explore, though she will continue to be involved with the radio station, including hosting her "Dead Air" program. As she told the volunteer programmers and her friends:

"It's been a great pleasure and an honor to work here, and I can't think of a more interesting or gratifying place to work. I'm constantly amazed by your talent, passion, and commitment to the cause of creating the best community radio we can, in service of the people of Mendocino County."

We wish Mary great success in her future endeavors. We will miss her.

First I want to thank everyone for listening to The Sonic Blender and reminding you my next show is THIS TUESDAY from 2-4pm PST. Seems it's the lo-fi show - since so many Americana artists these days are going back to the old 'ways' of recording lo-fi, direct to tape, using distorted mixes and guitars....what's old is new and back again!

My first hour I'll feature The Greencards, Rosane Cash, Shovels & Rope, Penelope Houston and local star Chris von Sneidern. My second hour is a little on the dreamy side, but I know you won't mind, with Ruth Moody, Joshua James, The Civil Wars and Robert Plant/Alison Krauss. If you were watching the web, we know Alison Krauss has taken a leave from singing to rest as she has been diagnosed with what basically is vocal fatigue.

I'm glad to bring you local artist and friend, Woody Simmons, on banjo of course. She's relocated to Hawaii and so I'm expected some ukelele really soon from those distant shores.

So tune in to The Sonic Blender this Tuesday 2-4pm and get into the spirit of lo-fi and all things Americana. Best to you all, Katharine
