In 2013, I went to both London and Sydney to give a talk centered around my career before I ever moved to Mendocino County.  It is called "The Origins of Online Community."  It traces my start in the counterculture and goes through my life living communally until I was part of the group that started what Wired Magazine called "the world's most influential online community" in the 1980s.  It is an edited 25 minute narrative with slides, recorded in Sydney, AU in September 2013.  If it interests you it could give you a better idea of where I come from and I think it is quite a good story.
