Thanks to everyone who helped us raise nearly $81,000 during our Fall Pledge Drive!

It was a real team effort, with literally hundreds of people pitching in to keep up the momentum. Whether you pledged your financial support, made on-air appeals, answered phones, donated food, time, or thank-you gifts, YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!

Our goal was $120,000 and it was based on real needs. While we didn't get there, we all worked together in an upbeat way to express our gratitude to the community that sustains us. We made tremendous strides towards keeping KZYX moving forward in its mission of listener service. You have once again proven your commitment to keeping local public radio alive and well. Thank you!

Katharine here from the Sonic Blender, on the air right now. Enjoying the first hour of Americana featuring some of the Grammy winners 'blended' into our favorites here at KZYX, including Colin Linden, Jack White, Wanda Jackson and Mumford & Sons for sure.

The Grammy Show is always an annual irritation and attraction for me. Being a member of The Recording Academy, I vote every year for those artists I think deserve recognition and am often amazed at both the bands that never make it and some of the ones that do. This year was no different. The web lit up for me about 4pm from musicians peeved, especially those in LA, who bemoaned the delay of the television coverage an entire three hours later than the actual show. I had already found out who won, who lost and what dress who wore, well before the CBS show began. Still had to watch, though.

My two or three cents, for what it's worth, is Taylor Swift still can't sing (what is that about?), Jack White is an absolute genius, LL Cool J is a good lookin' man, Alabama Shakes should have had a live spot, but lot's of folks were turned on to Mumford & Sons, which has got to be a good thing, right?

So now we're back to the business of music. Spring is coming a new releases are filling up Mary's in box here, both good, bad and indifferent. I'll try to spin what we think rises to the top of the heap and keep you updated on upcoming live shows as usual.

Grammy-winners or no....

:-) Katharine
