Public inspection files are a requirement of the Federal Communications Commission. All existing TV and radio stations in the U.S., and all applicants for new broadcast stations, are required to keep certain documents relating to the station’s operation and ownership in a file, in a place where members of the public may have free access to it. KZYX and KZYX Public Inspection Files are located at 9300 Highway 128, Philo, CA and are available for public inspection during regular business hours.

KZYX is Community Public Radio for all of Mendocino County and beyond. We are news, information, culture and entertainment from around the globe and from just around the corner. We're a member-owned public radio nonprofit with nationally syndicated programs from NPR, PRI, APM and Pacifica and we are community radio with locally produced programs from friends and neighbors. And when there are fires, road closures or other emergencies, we're the best place to go on the radio dial. As a KZYX listener you get radio from the neighborhood, county, state, nation and world. As a member you shape who we are and where we're going. Mendocino County, this is your public media. Come and be part of it.

Mendocino County is huge (larger than the entire states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined) with hilly terrain, making nearly impossible to broadcast to the entire county with only one transmitter. So, we broadcast from three places. That is why when you drive from one part of the county to another you have to adjust your dial to one of our three signals.

We are radio that is non-profit and non-commercial. Our financial support comes primarily from our listeners and our community. We are community radio in the sense that our local programs are of interest to our local community. Those local shows are created and produced by volunteers in Mendocino County.
